Showroom

Astris PME

The Astris PME Melbourne Showroom project was a joint collaboration completed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Being Melbourne-based, the local team handled site visits, measurements, and client liaison, while the Sydney-based designer managed the manufacturing. Both teams worked together on the final installation.

The project developed a larger facility to centralize Astris PME’s departments and warehouse, featuring a functional, engaging showroom. Designed as a “blank canvas,” it showcases assistive technology without feeling crowded. Interactive zones include a product test area, a child-friendly kids’ zone, and a mock hygiene space. Circular layouts, calming murals, and warm lighting enhance navigation and atmosphere, while flexible displays allow easy updates as new products are introduced.

Interactive Zones

To provide a real-world experience, the showroom features specific zones for product testing:

  • Product Test Area: Includes varied terrains such as rocky paths, angled roads, and curbs to test wheelchair mobility in a safe environment.
  • Kids Zone: A dedicated area for paediatric products (walkers, pushchairs, standers) featuring child-friendly elements like chalkboard walls.
  • Hygiene Area: A mock, non-plumbed bathroom setup for displaying items like the Rifton HTS and Starfish Pro.

      Visual & Environmental Elements

      • Layout: Features a generous circular pathway around the showroom with a central display feature.
      • Graphics: Floor-to-ceiling lifestyle murals aimed at evoking a sense of calm and safety.
      • Lighting: Subtly designed to convey “cosiness” while effectively highlighting equipment, as the space lacks natural light.
